UPDATED An armed robber has stolen hundreds of pounds from a convenience store in Bordon,Hampshire this afternoon
The robbery happened shortly after 6pm today (Saturday Feb 20) at the One Stop Shop on Rydal Close, in Bordon
A Rydal Road resident said "A man entered the shop and threatened a member of staff with what was believed to be a hand gun. They demanded money from the till and then left with a three figure sum of cash. There have been Police here all afternoon. It's all very worrying normally Bordon is a very pleasant place and people go about their business"
The store worker was not injured but was left shaken after the incident.
Two Police Vehicles remain outside the convenience store this evening and the shop remains sealed off.
The man was dressed in dark clothing and described as a white male about 5ft 9in tall and of slim build.
Detective Sergeant Nicki Blackmun said: “This is a very unusual incident and it has obviously left those who were inside the store very shocked but thankfully uninjured.
“We know there were several customers in the store at the time and we are particularly keen to speak to all of them as they may be able to assist us with our investigation.
“We know that he initially left on foot, so we also want to speak to anyone who saw someone matching the description in the surrounding area that evening.
“We would like to reassure the community that incidents like this are rare and we will be carrying out extra patrols in the area.”
