The RNLI Alfred Albert Williams lifeboat  from Bembridge  was launched just before 6pm today,(Sunday April 24).

The lifeboat was launched at the request of Solent Coastguard following a report from the Brittany Ferry Bretagne  that a passenger had seen someone in the water about 2 miles south of Bembridge Ledge.

Once on scene  at the reported location sadly  a body was recovered.  The person  was then brought back to the Lifeboat Station where it was handed over to the local Police.
