Police offer 5K Reward to catch Portsmouth Hammer Attacker


Police this afternoon  have released a  £5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and successful prosecution of the man responsible for a violent attack on a 17-year-old girl in Shearer Road, Portsmouth, just before 7pm on Monday, April 11.

The victim has sustained serious, life-changing head injuries and so we are now classing this attack as an attempted murder.

The 17-year-old suffered head injuries when she was attacked at a property in Shearer Road, Portsmouth, shortly before 7pm on 11 April.

She remains in hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Police said the man was caught on CCTV in the Commercial Road area two days before the attack.

Officers previously said the girl’s injuries were believed to have been caused by a hammer.

The man is described as white, of small to medium build, about 5ft 5ins (1.65m) tall, with short light-brown hair and a short beard.
