Fire crews called to factory fire in Gosport


A number of fire crews are dealing with a fire, at a Hutamaki factory on Grange site near to Brune Park school in Gosport.  A fire service cordoned has been put in place and the main entrance has been sealed off.
Three Fire crews from Gosport and Fareham are currently on the roof of the factory in Rowner Road.

An aerial ladder from St Mary’s has also been sent to support the crews. It is believed that Ventilation fan has caught light. Crews are using two hose reels in attempt to contain and stop the fire from spreading A number of workers have bee evacuated from the site. Concerned staff from paper mountain are at the main gate awaiting news of what has gone on at the plant this evening they have attended as they thought a bin may have been set alight.

A Spokesman for Hampshire Fire and Rescue said ” Firefighters from Gosport and Fareham were called to a fire involving a commercial premise in the Gosport area. The call came in just after 9pm The fire involved an industrial unit which is used for plastic manufacturing. The building consisted of two floors. The fire involved an electric roof fan. Two jets, two breathing apparatus and two 135 ladders were used to extinguish the fire along with the help of our Aerial Ladder Platform from St Marys Crew came away from the plant just after midnight
