Police name victim found dead in a house in Westridge Road Southampton on Friday afternoon
Police said “We are now in a position to confirm the name of the man whose body was found in Southampton on Friday (April 29).”
He is Michael Freshwater, 49, a dad-of-four originally from London but who was living in Swaythling, Southampton, was found dead at an address in Westridge Road, just after 4.15pm.
His family have today paid tribute to him.
His partner Jenny Downey said: “My life will never be the same. We had a special kind of love. Not only was he my partner, he was my best friend, my rock and the absolute love of my life. I’m left with the biggest black hole in my heart.
“Micky was a wonderful soul, a happy-go-lucky person with a beautiful heart made of gold. He would help anyone out.
“He was one of a kind, a truly amazing soul. He was a friend to many, a brother, a son and a wonderful father.
“Micky was my world and I’m absolutely heartbroken. Goodnight my Micky, I will always love you.”
Police still have a cordon at the scene in Westridge Road but it has been reduced in size.
Following a post mortem examination officers are now in a position to confirm that Mr Freshwater died as a result of a stab wound.
Two men from Southampton, aged 26 and 35, arrested in connection with this incident are still in police custody.
