Police Name Woman Killed after Fatal Lorry Collision in Woolston Southampton

Police have released the name of the woman who died following a road traffic collision in Woolston last week.

Enid Mavis Everill, 61, was involved in a collision with a lorry on Bridge Road, at 12.20pm on Friday, May 6.

She was taken to Southampton General Hospital but died a short time later.

Her family have today paid tribute to her. They said: “Enid, known to many as Mavis, was a well loved lady of the community. She was also a loving mum, nan and mother-in-law.

“She was a very special lady who would help anyone. She never moaned or grumbled and never expected anything in return.

Bridge Road in Woolston is shut between Radstock Road and Victoria Road following the incident, which happened at about 12.20pm. Motorists are being told to avoid the area while the road is closed and bus services are being diverted. Shocked witnesses said that medics worked to resuscitate the woman before she was taken to hospital in an ambulance. A spokeswoman for Hampshire police said: “Police are currently dealing with a serious road traffic collision on Bridge Road, Woolston. “We were called to the scene at 12.20pm to reports of a collision involving a lorry and a pedestrian. “A female pedestrian has been taken to Southampton General Hospital in a life-threatening condition. “The road is currently closed and we would like to thank motorists for their patience as we deal with this incident." @UKNIP (UK News In Pictures/UKNIP)
