Police have closed two lanes of the A27 Western Avenue in Fareham toward the M27 after a car has rolled onto its roof on the Quay Street roundabout this evening.
Two fire crews from Fareham along with Police and Paramedics attended to the driver who has believed to have escaped without serious injuries after the vehicle hit a lamp post and rolled on to its roof as it took the bend.
Witness claim the woman may have been on her phone and wasn’t paying full attention to the road when the collision happened. A group of near by bikers claimed the woman took the bend to fast and the blue astra collsied with a street light before flippping over. It all happened pretty quicky. The emergency services where here within minutes. The paramedics took her into the back of an ambulance the driver didn’t look seriously hurt.
SSE Contractors have been called in to make the Street light safe as part of it is hanging by it’s flex.
The 25-year-old driver substained a non-serious back injury and has been taken to hospital by ambulance.
A spokes person from South Central Ambulance service said, “We sent a rapid response unit and an ambulance which took the patient to Queen Alexandra Hospital.”
Traffic has been diverted via Quay Street whilst the incident is being dealt with.
