Emergency services are on the scene of the incident that happened this afternoon.
Five fire appliances were called just after 12.30 today after the car left the road crashing through the bridge and ended up on it’s roof on the embankment.
It is understood that at least one person was left trapped inside the vehicle and a British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman confirmed that a man has died.
The spokesman said: “We received reports at 12.37pm on Thursday, 09 June of a car on the tracks near Allington Lane, Hampshire.
“A car came off the road and landed adjacent to the railway line.
A police spokeswoman from Hampshire Constabulary said: “Allington Lane is currently closed and is likely to remain so for the rest of the afternoon, we would urge motorists to avoid the area if possible.
We would like to thank motorists for their patience as we deal with this incident.”
All services between Fareham and Eastleigh have been suspended while a rescue operation takes place. Services may be diverted via Guildford or Southampton and some delays are expected.
