Police officers taken to Hospital after Collision with Lorry

Two traffic Police officers are being treated in hospital after their BMW traffic car collided with a lorry on the M2 this morning.

The busy M2 carriageway has been closed following the smash between junction five for Sittingbourne and junction six for Faversham, with queues stretching back to junction four.

A Kent Police spokesperson said: “A Kent Police vehicle responding to a call in the east of the county was involved in a collision with a lorry.

“Police and Secamb are on the scene and two police officers are being treated for injuries.

“The carriageway is expected to be closed for several hours.”

All traffic is being diverted onto the A249, with vehicles heading to the Port of Dover advised to use the M20 and A20.

Traffic is also being held on the Londonbound carriageway while the air ambulance attends the scene.
