Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly man was the victim of a distraction burglary in Waterlooville.
During the early evening of Tuesday September 13, two men attended the victim’s home address on Bere Road and asked if they could use his toilet.
After a short time inside the house, the men left and the 80-year-old victim later noticed his blazer, containing his wallet, was missing.
Two cash withdrawals totalling £560 were subsequently made from the victim’s Post Office account.
One of the men has been described as white with tanned skin, around 5ft 4ins tall, wearing a white top that had a small tree logo on the chest.
The second man has been described as white with tanned skin, around 5ft 10ins tall, overweight, and also wearing a white coloured top with a tree logo on the chest.
DC Jonathan Duggan, of the Northern Investigation Team, said: “I would like to hear from anyone who may have seen these men in the area at the time.
“I would also like to remind people to keep their homes locked and secure, especially with the approach of darker evenings, and not to allow strangers into their homes under any pretext without first checking their identity.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact DC Duggan on 101, quoting 44160348167, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
