A cyclist has been taken to hospital after being hit by a car in Bridgemary, Gosport.
Emergency services were called just before 6pm this evening. Police have closed off a section of Nobes Avenue between Kev Jones Convenience Store and the corner Keys Road to traffic whilst they carry out investigations.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance landed in Nobes field adjacent to the shopping parade as a crowd of people gathered.
One person was treated at the scene and taken to Southampton General hospital with the air ambulance doctor travelling in the land ambulance with the patient.
Nearby residents comforted the cyclist and wrapped them in blankets before the arrival of the emergency services.
Road Policing Officers from Hampshire Constabulary are carrying out an investigation after it is believed that the cyclist rode into the path of a green Citroen Picasso.
South Central Ambulance Service spokeswoman last night said: ‘We sent a rapid response vehicle, a rapid response crew and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. ‘We treated one patient who was a male in his 30s, for serious injuries. ‘He was treated at the scene and taken by land ambulance to Southampton General Hospital.’
