Police Called to Shovel Shingle After Flatbed Truck Sheds Load

Gravel has covered two lanes of the Eastern Road northbound at Farlington roundabout after a lorry tailgate failed and shed its load.

It is believed that one of the hinges on the truck’s tailgate failed causing the 40ml gravel to spill out onto the road.

The incident is causing major tailbacks for drivers attempting to leave Portsmouth on Eastern Road as workers and police officers attempt to clear it up.

Traffic is being reported as very slow and very heavy in the area and drivers are being advised to avoid it.
