A female jogger was attacked whilst using a popular cycle path in Gosport this evening.
The distressed 33-year-old woman was found by a group of joggers from the Gosport Road Runners club. The good samaritans stopped after they found the woman on the ground. The group then helped the distressed woman home.
Police say they are now investigating the attack which took place at around 7.50pm on Tuesdya between Alecto Road and Alver Creek (Horse field Creek) in Gosport. It is believed that the man grabbed the woman who was out running and then fled. The woman was very shaken up about the event that took place.
A spokesman from Hampshire and Isle of Wight of Wight Police said: “This was a brazen attack that left the woman very upset.
“She was, understandably, left shaken by this incident and we are determined to trace this man as quickly as possible.
“The cycle path is normally well used by members of the public, cyclists, dog walkers and I would urge anyone who remembers any suspicious activity to come forward immediately.
“At this stage in our inquiry we cannot rule out the possibility of more than one suspect, so I again ask people to think hard and get in touch if they used the cycle path on Tuesday evening.
