Driver Robbed and attacked in Road Rage Incident in Hythe

Police are appealing for information following an assault and theft in Hythe.

At 10pm on Saturday, December 31 the victim was driving along Southampton Road in his Honda Civic R when he was followed by a man driving a red VW Golf. The man in the Golf overtook the victim and then stopped suddenly in front of him, resulting in a minor collision.

The offender then got out of the VW Golf and approached the victim, telling him to call the police. When the victim picked up his phone the offender hit him in the face causing him to lose consciousness. When he woke, his Samsung Galaxy S7 was missing.

The victim sustained a fractured cheek bone, whiplash and a possible broken nose.

The man police want to speak to is described as: White, aged in his 30s, 5ft 10ins, with stubble and short dark hair. He spoke with a local accent and drove a red VW Golf, possibly a GTI.

PC Claire Scammell, said: “I am appealing for anyone with information about this incident to come forward and speak to us. Did you see what happened? Or did you see either of these vehicles in the area around the time of the incident? If you have any information, please contact us and speak to us in confidence.”
