The M3 Motorway has been closed northbound between Junction 4 and Junction 3 following a Large Goods Vehicle striking a bridge going across the M3 Motorway.
Surrey Police and Highways England closed all lanes of the M3 just after 1.30am when the over height-ed heavy good vehicle struck the Portsmouth Road Bridge near Frimley in Surrey.
Specialist cranes have been brought in to remove some of the load from the lorry that shed part of cargo following the collision. Hard road closures have been put in place with traffic being diverted off at Junction 4a. The damage to the bridge is currently unknown. There is already reports of congestion with traffic trying divert away from the incident.
A spokesperson from Highways England said ‘A diversion route is in place drivers are advised to follow the black diamond diversion route as the motorway is likely to remain closed for the next few hours whilst the clean up and recovery operation takes place.
