Police appeal after £10K Burglary in Andover

Detectives want people to come forward with information after £10,000 worth of jewellery was taken from a house near Andover.

The victim, a 45-year-old woman, reported that jewellery had been taken from her home in Appleshaw, near Andover, on Sunday, December 18.

The theft is meant to have taken place sometime between 9pm on Tuesday, December 13 and 9.45pm on Friday, December 16.

Among the items of jewellery stolen were:

• A rare 1970s Cartier Rivoli Paris round-faced gold watch, with diamonds around the face. It had a gold bracelet and clasp
• An oval gold locket with pearl cross containing baby hair from the victim’s son
• An art deco diamond and sapphire ring in a gold setting, with three diamonds in row
• Gold lattice bracelet with gold lock
• A gold wedding ring, which dated back to the early 1900s and once belonged to the victim’s grandmother, with star engraving

PC Graham Snelgar said: “These items have a great deal of sentimental value for the victim.

“For instance, the locket contained baby hair from her son. He had a cardiac arrest when was just seven months old and the victim kept some of his hair in the locket after he was discharged from hospital.

“Have you been offered any of these items for sale recently? Do you have any information on where they are and who took them? If so, please come forward as soon as possible.”
