Police appeal for witnesses after man left with fractured Skull in Southampton


Police are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old man received life threatening injuries in an assault in Southampton on Saturday, December 17.

The incident happened at 4am outside the Golden Touch amusement arcade and the Nationwide on Above Bar Street.

Three men were walking through the Above Bar area and became involved in an altercation with a group of five men.

Two of the group of three received minor injuries, but the third man sustained a fractured skull and remains in a critical state at Southampton General Hospital.

Two of the group of five – a 20-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from Southampton – have been arrested in connection with the incident. They have been bailed until March 15, 2017.

Further enquiries are being made in relation to the three other men.

Detective Constable Martin Timmis from Southampton CID said:

“We are trying to identify a man who entered the Golden Touch amusement arcade at the time of the incident and may have seen something.

“This possible witness is described as a white man with short, light coloured hair, wearing a dark coloured leather jacket and glasses.
