Police Close Goldsmith Avenue Portsmouth after Fire Rips through Property

Police have closed off part of goldsmith Avenue in Portsmouth this morning after is it understood that a fire has ripped through a property on the road.


A number of fire crews from Southsea have been called to the incident that is involving a large property. Road closures have been put in place by Police and are likely to remain for sometime. The cause of the blaze is currently unknown and crews are still committed in the property . Paramedics from South Central ambulance service have also been called to treat a woman in her 90’s from the property after passers by raised the alarm. They saw smoke and flames on the first floor of the property.
Two crews of firefighters from Southsea were called and the fire service said they rescued an unconscious elderly woman, in her 90s, from the house. The woman has been taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham suffering from smoke inhalation.
