House sealed off in Portsmouth by police investigating a serious Assault

A house has been sealed off in Portsmouth by police investigating a serious assault.

A police officer is guarding the house in St Mary’s Road, Portsmouth, yards from Newbridge Junior school as part of an investigation into the serious assault. Scene of crime officers have been at the property since 9am this morning. It is understood that the assault took place late on Thursday evening (29th June).
Officers wearing gloves and white paper suits have been seen entering the property and searching. Two officers are guarding the semi-detached property and a police vehicle remains. No details have been released by Hampshire police yet but UK News in Pictures understands the Major Crime Investigation Team is carrying out the investigation.

One resident who asked not to be named said that they saw police smashing down the front door late in the evening to gain entry to the property.

Large blood smears can be seen on the remains of the black front door.

Shocked neighbour, Lee Hathi, said that a body bag was removed from the property late in the evening.
A Hampshire Police spokeswoman said, “A 35-year-old woman from Portsmouth and a 33-year-old woman from Fratton have been arrested in connection with the incident.”
