A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of child abduction after police found a missing schoolgirl, 14, who was seen getting into a Volkswagen van near a hospital.

An appeal was launched to find the girl after concerns were raised for her safety after the 14-year-old was spotted clambering into a grey coloured Volkswagen van near a hospital at about 9pm.

The man was also arrested on suspicion of drug driving and remains in custody being questioned by officers.

The vehicle, which had tinted windows, drove off shortly after the schoolgirl was seen entering it on Friday.
