Despite claims being rubbished by some social media group that this did not happen the mother has gone public and has also confirmed that she has spoken to Hampshire with her concerns
The Mother who we are not naming has made a public statement, after a post was shared hundreds of times this afternoon, claiming a woman attempted to “snatch” a child from outside a branch of Aldi in Portsmouth.
We also understand the woman has now raised her concerns over the incident, which took place at lunchtime, with Hampshire Constabulary this evening. Despite the fact that some social media group dismissed this fact. I would urge them to stick to posting lost dogs and lost keys from behind their keyboards and assemble the facts
We would always urge parents and guardians to remain vigilant at all times in public .
Hampshire Police have just release the following statement:We were called at 1.30pm today (Monday 17 July) to a report of a suspicious incident that occurred outside Aldi on Gamble Road at about 12.25pm.
A mother reported that whilst she and her 1 year old daughter were getting a trolley, a woman approached them and spoke to her daughter and seemed to try and beckon her. The mother challenged her and the woman left, getting into a nearby silver car which then drove off.
The woman was described as Pakistani, aged in her 40s, fat or round build wearing a nose ring and a dark blue sari and head dress.
Officers later spoke with the mother and enquiries are ongoing to ascertain exactly what happened.
