Wanted by the FBI this is the alleged paedophile hiding in sleepy Hampshire village
Roger Alan Giese, 40, fled the US eight years ago just as he was about to stand trial over abuse allegations involving a 13-year-old boy.
He is now living in the Andover village of Broughton under the assumed name of Jonathan Roberts.
He has established a PR Company, C4 Digital Group, with his new partner, Linda Scott, and has worked for over a under secondment to Thomas Cook, the travel agents.
Their clients including travel giants Thomas Cook, London’s posh Royal Horseguards Hotel and the global Gouman Hotels chain.
It was through his company that Giese was invited to join Thomas Cook’s Digital Advisory Board before spending more than a year as the firm’s ‘global head of social media’.
The company, who had no idea of his past, told the Daily Mirror, “We were shocked and appalled to learn of these disturbing allegations.
“Jonathan Roberts, operating under this false identity, was a paid contractor on secondment from Chapel Digital for 15 months until June 2014.
“As a contractor, he held the job title of Global Head of Social Media.”
C4 Digital Group, formerly Chapel PR, was started by Giese and Ms Scott in June 2012 out of one room in Andover and now boasts several offices, including one on New York’s 5th Avenue.
In Orange County, California, Giese is wanted for trial on 19 counts of allegedly committing “lewd acts” with a child and “penetration with a foreign object”.
As a voice coach with the All-American Boys Chorus, US prosecutors say he befriended his alleged victim’s family at a local church and stayed with them for two weeks in 1998 while he looked for a new apartment.
FBI Special Agent Tracy Hanlon told a judge days after Giese disappeared, “During this two weeks he shared a bedroom with the minor, and he developed a sexual relationship with the boy.”
Deputy District Attorney Kal Kaliban, who was prosecuting the case at the time, said, “Mr Giese should turn himself in as soon as possible.
“The victim has the right to his day in court and to get justice for what he has had to endure.”
Since his disappearance, Giese has been named as ‘wanted’ by the FBI and as a target of Interpol’s Operation Infra-Red (International Fugitive Roundup and Arrest).
Even though the authorities have finally caught up with him, Giese is fighting to remain in the UK.
He has been locked in a High Court battle, claiming it would “breach his human rights” if he was put on a plane back to California.
