Southampton,Hampshire  4th February 2016 A spillage of milk bottles led to the closure of a section of one of the major routes into Southampton city centre earlier. Hampshire fire service said about 1,000 litres of milk came off the lorry on the A3024 at Bursledon. The service said it had sent its Hazard Area Response Team to the scene to prevent the milk from getting into nearby water courses. The road has since reopened between the Windhover Roundabout and the B3033. The driver of the 44-tonne lorry is not believed to be injured.©UKNIP (UK News In Pictures/UKNIP)

A lorry carrying 44 tonnes of milk has lost its load on a busy Southampton Road and hurled its load across both lanes.
The busy A3024 route is closed to traffic following the milk being split across both lanes of the carriageway near to Windover Roundabout. The incident happened in the early hours of Thursday Morning. Rush hour traffic is building in the area whilst emergency service and the environment agency deal with the incident. The driver who was unhurt but a bit Shaken

Commuters travelling towards SOUTHAMPTON are being warned of delays and diversions after the accident.
Police say the incident is going to take around two hours to clean the road of glass and split milk. Specialist contractors have been brought in so the road can be safely reopen.
