The device, dating from the Second World War, was found by a dredging barge carrying out work in the harbour before the arrival of HMS Queen Elizabeth – the navy’s new 65,000-tonne aircraft carrier – into the naval base next spring.Three Police launches can be seen guarding the area turning vessels away. Local businesses have been warned they may need to move. Three cross Channel ferries are awaiting to enter the port with approx 1300 people aboard the three.
