Emergency services have been called this morning to Easter Road to a serious collision involving a car and a motorcycle. Hampshire Police along with paramedics were called to the scene at 11.30am this morning Thursday 9th November.
It is understood that the motorcyclist sustained serious, life threatening injuries. Paramedics at the scene are currently working on the motorcyclist at the roadside.
Police have closed Eastern Road from Hayling Avenue. Motorists have been advised to find alternative routes. Officers have advised that the road will be closed for a number of hours whilst accident police investigation is ongoing.
Hampshire And Iow Air Ambulance has landed on a nearby grass area.
Update here is what we know so far:
The collision involved a motorcycle colliding with a black ford focus that was pulling out from Hayling Avenue.
Eastern road closure is likey to remain in place for a number of hours. Paramedics and air ambulance doctor worked on the motorcyclist, a man in his 50’s, he has now been taken by air ambulance to hospital.
A resident who asked not to be named said “moments before the collision, I saw the motorcyclist riding on the white hatchings”.
Police are appealing for witnesses
