One of the country’s top food techs is set to open a delicatessen in the heart of Southsea.
Daniel Nowland, who has been Jamie Oliver’s right-hand man for the past 8 years, is set to open the delicatessen, simply named The Southsea Deli, at the beginning of February.
Local lad Daniel spotted the opportunity to launch a much-needed local deli when the premises sadly vacated by the Jam & Bowler café, at the junction of Albert Road and Victoria Road South, became available.
His whole career has been spent on the search for the most delicious, sumptuous food and quality produce.
“I have been passionate about food since a young age. In my teen years I worked as a chef, pub manager and various other food related roles giving me a great variety of experience,”
After finishing a degree in Food Production, Technology & Retail at Bournemouth University he spent a year as a food product developer with national institution, Marks & Spencer, before being headhunted by the Jamie Oliver empire.
“It’s been a pleasure and honour to work with Daniel, a good man, total professional and a friend more than a boss could ever dream,” Jamie Oliver said.
Daniel will be no stranger to food lovers locally, having hosted the popular Southsea Supper Club in his home regularly since 2016 – a simple concept, he cooks a three course meal for strangers, providing a special and unique dining experience for up to 14 people per event.
“My aim is to champion local, seasonal and responsibly produced foods,” Daniel told Spotted.
