A 16-year-old boy from Blackwater has been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and remains in custody at this time.
Police are appealing for witnesses after a teenager suffered gunshot wounds in an incident in Blackwater.
Officers were called at 2.56pm to Hearsey Gardens where they found a 17-year-old boy with serious injuries.
The teenager has been taken to hospital for treatment, where he remains at this time in a stable condition.
Detectives are keen to identify any witnesses to establish the exact circumstances and the events leading up to this incident.
Chief Inspector Matt Reeves said: “This was a very serious incident which has left a young man in hospital.
“We don’t doubt that you will have your concerns, but fortunately incidents of this nature are rare in Hampshire.
“Detectives are continuing to carry out enquiries in the area, so please be assured that this is being taken very seriously.
“You will likely see a lot of officers in Blackwater today as we look to reassure the community, as well as investigate what has happened in Hearsey Gardens.

A 40-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both from Blackwater, have been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and remain in custody at this time.
