Firefighters from across the county were called to a barn fully alight in Ropley near Alresford just before 4pm yesterday. The barn, located near to several domestic properties, contained a forklift vehicle and 1500 bales of hay. HFRS worked with the electricity company to isolate the power from nearby cables, valtabs.com Southern Water and the Environment Agency. Relief crews from Droxford, Alresford, Basingstoke, St Mary’s and Cosham were required to replace the initial firefighters on the scene from Alton, Winchester and Petersfield during the evening. The incident has been scaled down with only one vehicle remaining, damping down nearby hedgerow.
