A property in Gravesend has been shut down by police after ongoing complaints of antisocial behaviour and criminal activity linked to its residents and visitors.
Following multiple reports of disorderly and offensive behaviour at an address on Princes Road, local officers secured a closure order from Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 8 January 2025.
Closure Order Details
- The order will remain in effect for three months.
- Any unauthorised person attempting to enter the property risks a fine or a prison sentence.
- Officers ensured the property was vacated and secured, with warning signs placed on the door to deter unlawful entry.
Police Statement
Police Sergeant Steve Cole emphasized that the move was necessary to protect the local community from persistent disruption.
“We are determined to support communities that have suffered from persistent antisocial behaviour and disorder connected to a minority of properties.
“Where concerns are raised, beat officers and council enforcement teams will warn occupants about the consequences of their behaviour. If they fail to heed these warnings, we will take enforcement action to restore peace in the area.”
The closure order was issued under legislation from the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, and Gravesham Borough Council will take full possession of the premises.
Further Crackdowns Expected
Police have also received reports of other properties in the area causing disruption to residents. Sergeant Cole confirmed that officers are gathering evidence and will take similar robust action where necessary.
“We will not hesitate to take further enforcement measures against other problem properties affecting the quality of life for residents.”
