An 18-year-old woman remains in serious condition in hospital three days after a crash on the Northumberland Coastal Route.

Incident Details

The crash occurred shortly before 3:30 PM on Tuesday on the A1068 in the Widdrington area.

According to Northumbria Police, a black Ford Focus left the eastbound carriageway and overturned. Emergency services attended the scene, and an 18-year-old woman, believed to have been a passenger in the vehicle, was later found at a property in Ashington. She was taken to hospital with serious injuries, where she remains in a serious condition.

Investigation and Appeal for Information

An 18-year-old was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. He has since been released on bail as the investigation continues.

On Wednesday, Northumbria Police issued an appeal to witnesses who were in the area at the time of the incident.

Authorities are also seeking dashcam footage of the moments leading up to the crash.
