Grass Fire Breaks Out in Dartford as Firefighters Battle Blaze Near Joyce Green Lane
Firefighters were called to tackle a grass fire in Dartford this afternoon (Thursday), prompting a swift response from emergency services.
The incident broke out at approximately 3:32pm on Joyce Green Lane, where plumes of smoke were seen rising from nearby open land.
Three fire engines were dispatched to the scene by Kent Fire and Rescue Service, with crews using beaters and high-pressure hose reel jets to bring the blaze under control.
Firefighters worked quickly to prevent the fire from spreading, successfully extinguishing the flames and damping down surrounding areas. The operation was completed by 4:25pm.
There have been no reported injuries, and the cause of the fire remains unknown at this stage. An investigation may follow if evidence of deliberate ignition or suspicious activity is found.
Joyce Green Lane, located near Dartford Marshes, is often used for walking and cycling, but it’s also prone to vegetation fires during hot, dry spells.
Residents are reminded to avoid discarding cigarettes or glass bottles in grassy areas and to report any signs of wildfire to 999 immediately.
