Man in Court Over Teen Shooting

A 19-year-old man has appeared in court charged with the attempted murder of a 17-year-old boy shot in the leg during a terrifying attack in Huddersfield.

Jordan Bearnard, from Robin Hood Road, Huddersfield, faces charges after the shooting on a football pitch off Spaines Road, Birkby, on the evening of April 8. The victim suffered a non-life-threatening leg injury, West Yorkshire Police confirmed.

Serious Charges and Court Date

Bearnard is also charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. He appeared at Leeds Magistrates’ Court and was remanded in custody. He will next appear at Leeds Crown Court on May 14.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

The teen was shot while walking with friends near the Woodlanders FC football pavilion between 8.30pm and 9pm. West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry team is investigating. Detectives urge anyone who saw the incident or was near the scene on April 8 to come forward immediately.
