A jury at Leeds Crown Court today found Mark Barrott (55) guilty of the murder of Eileen Barrott ( Thursday 28th July).
Mark Barrott Police were called to the couple’s home on Sunday, August 15, last year, after Eileen’s adult son discovered her unresponsive.
Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene, and it was later determined that she had been murdered.
A murder investigation was launched, leading to Barrott’s arrest in Scotland on August 19.
Barrott was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on Monday, August 8, 2022, at Bradford Crown Court.
“We welcome the jury’s verdict of murder today and believe it accurately reflects the circumstances of this offence and the brutal attack on Eileen,” said Detective Chief Inspector Vanessa Rolfe of the Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
“We hope that Barrott’s murder conviction will bring at least some solace to Eileen’s family and all those who loved her.”
