On Friday (4 March) Craig Gibson, 38, of Staines Road in Hounslow, was sentenced at Guildford Crown Court on Friday, after pleading guilty to all charges, including causing damage to the same woman’s house and breaching a suspended sentence for similar offences.
The court heard how Gibson stalked the woman over a period of several months last year, when he would persistently wait outside and watch her home, following her in his car whenever she left the house. Sometimes, he would take photos of her car at different locations and send them to her, to show that he always knew where she was. In December last year, Gibson smashed several windows in the woman’s home in a fit of rage.
This fixated pattern of threatening, and often violent behaviour, resulted in Gibson’s arrest in January this year.
Detective Constable Lucy Stuttard, who investigated the case, said: “It is sheer relief that Gibson is now behind bars where he can’t continue to control, abuse and hurt the people around him. Gibson’s behaviour has made the life of the woman he targeted a living nightmare. He presents a high risk to women particularly as stalking can often be a pre-cursor to further harmful behaviour.
