appeal for witnesses after two men attacked in watts park southampton

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attack on two men in a Southampton park.

The men were in Watts Park, off Cumberland Place, in the early hours of Sunday morning when they were attacked by two men.

The victims, aged 27 and 31, were kicked and punched to the ground by both suspects, in what appears to be an unprovoked attack.

Both men were taken to Southampton General Hospital.

The 27-year-old suffered a suspected broken nose and a heavily bruised eye. The 31-year-old sustained a cut lip and swelling to his cheek bone.

The first suspect is described as being white, in his late 20’s, about 5ft 9ins tall, of a stocky build and had short curly ginger hair with a full ginger beard. He was wearing a pink top.

The second suspect is described as being white and was wearing a grey t-shirt.

After the attackers fled the scene the victims were surrounded by concerned members of the public who came to their aid.

Officers are keen to speak to any of the people who came to help the victims as they could hold vital information which could assist with the investigation.

They would also like to hear from anyone who saw two men matching the descriptions in the area at the time of the incident, which happened at 2am.

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Craig Shears on 101, quoting 44160172316, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
