At 3:30pm this afternoon, the lifeboat trundled down the slipway at the request of Solent Coastguard, following reports that a fishing vessel with five people on board had broken down.
Despite the Easterly swell, the volunteer lifeboat crew arrived at the vessel at 3:45pm.
After assessing the situation, the lifeboat crew determined that the only option was to tow the casualty vessel to the mooring off the Offshore Boathouse because the tide was ebbing and there was insufficient water to safely transport her into Bembridge Harbour.
The crew and anglers were successfully moored and transferred to the Alfred Albert Williams, which was recovered by 5.39pm.
