Breaking News: Police have launched a search for a drunk driver who silver car ploughed into railing and a parking meter on Hope beach Shanklin Esplanade just after 1am on Monday morning. Hundred of Pounds of damaged has been caused the driver who has damaged a Parking Meter and Safety railings.
Police have cordon off the car park and have called in a search dogs and further resources in an attempt to find the driver who has fled the scene.

Witnesses who had been walking past heard a massive bang as the drama unfolded on Shanklin Sea front. The vehicle engine was screaming and the car was all over the road. How anyone wasn’t killed or hit was by chance workers said.

Two anglers who were sea fishing said they saw the car coming towards them and thought it was going to plough into them at first. but at the last-minute it severed smashing into the parking meter and then the safety railings.

The driver abandoned their car after it ploughing into parking meter and railing them fled on foot.
A local man who was out dog walker described the scene as debris all over the road. There are two police cars with four officers looking for the man. He was clearly very drunk as he fell out of the car and ran off before the Police arrived.
The vehicle has been recovered on the back of a recovery truck and staff from Island Road are making the area safe. Police have yet to confirm if the driver is still outstanding.
