farmer praises fire crews for efforts in tackling two barn fires in farnham

Fire crews from stations across Surrey and Hampshire have spent the afternoon tackling the two large barns fires packed with straw and hay. Crews are likely to remain on site at the incident until the weekend turning over and damping down one of the barns. Reinforce crews have been brought in to tackle the second barn that contains approx the 300 tons of straw. The fire in the private Hampton estate flames could been seen at one point in the village of Seale.

Crews efforts to tackle the fire have been hampered due to the limited water supply. Two carrier from Leatherhead and Camberley have been brought in to ferry water from the near by village hydrants.

Hamptons Estate manager Bill Biddell who raised the alarm said the hay is used to feed the beef castle on site. . The efforts of the fire crews despite the heat as been brilliant. The cause of the fire in still under investigation.
