Two people this evening are recovering in hospital after they had to be cut free from their vehicle following a Road traffic Collision on the A31 this afternoon.
Retained Fire fighters from Ringwood, Burley and Fordingbridge were called to the scene just after 4.30pm this afternoon following the two vehicle collision on the northbound A31 just outside Ringwood.
A specialist Rescue Support unit based at Redbridge was also sent to the scene to free those trapped in car and a pick-up truck. Firefighters using specialist cutting equipment took the roof off both vehicles to reach two casualties with possible spinal injuries.
Once freed both patients were treated at the scene by Paramedics from South Central Ambulance service. The drivers have since been taken to Southampton General Hospital for further treatment.
One lane of the carriage way remains closed on the Northbound Carriage way whilst a clear up and recovery operation takes place. It has been reported that traffic in the area is very slow with delays and with Long tailbacks formed behind the incident.
