Following a field fire in Charing, Kent Fire and Rescue Service is reminding the public to be extra cautious with bonfires. Four fire engines were dispatched to the incident on Bowl Road, where crews discovered a field of cut grass and a hedgerow on fire. To put out the fire, firefighters used hose reel jets and a fogging unit. There were no reported casualties, and the fire is thought to have spread accidentally from a nearby bonfire.
Following the incident, crews are reminding everyone to use caution when lighting bonfires and to only do so when it is safe to do so. Never leave a bonfire unattended, and keep them evenly spaced and well away from foliage, trees, and property.
