man attacked and punched in the face in east park southampton

Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked as he walked through East Park in Southampton on Sunday, June 5.

The 55-year-old man was surrounded by a group of four people in the park sometime between 6.30 and 7pm. One of these people then punched him leaving him with a suspected fractured cheek bone.

He later attended Southampton General Hospital where he was treated for his injury and later discharged.
Police have  arrested a  20-year-old Southampton man was arrested in connection with the assault and  he has been bailed pending further enquiries until July 14

Officers would like to hear from who was in the area at the time and saw the incident or anything suspicious. They are asked to call PC Gerry Eveleigh based in the Western Investigation Team at Southampton Central Police Station on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
