serial arsonist attacks third vehicle in gosport overnight

Police and Fire crews have been called to another arson attack on a vehicle in Gosport in the early hours of Friday morning.

Thousands of pounds worth of damage has been caused after a third car was torched in a wanton spree of destruction. Many who live in the area are now asking if there is an arsonist on the loose.

The latest attack happened in Blackthorn Drive, Gosport between 3.30am and 4am on Friday morning.

Three loud explosions were heard by one resident in the car parking area just after 2am this morning. One resident who said the noised rocked her home captured the vehicle exploding into a fire-ball before the quick arrival of fire crews from Gosport.

Fire crews battled the blaze as cops continue looking for the pyromaniac who terrorised the Gosport Road.

This is the third attack within a week and last night local officers took to Twitter appealing for information. Police tweeted the first attack involving a Peugeot 107 and VW Transporter that happened on Frater Lane and Blackthorn Drive which were set alight during the three-hour rampage and were completely destroyed.

Firefighters were called to a third suspected arson attack on the same road in two nights. The latest incident, which happened at about 2am today(Saturday), saw a black Vauxhall Astra set alight in Blackthorn Drive, Gosport.
Police spent the day (Friday) at the former White Swan pub that has been converted into flats after a fire broke out in a store cupboard but have claimed that they are not linking the incidents. Other residents have reported a scooter and another car in the surrounding areas had been torched.

Police have refused to comment on the latest attack.
