The boy’s family had petitioned the ECHR to delay the termination of life support for the brain-damaged 12-year-old.
However, the court stated that it would not overturn previous rulings by “national courts.”
At 11 a.m. on Thursday, Archie’s life support machine will be turned off.
Archie was discovered unconscious at his home in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, on April 7; his mother believes he was participating in an online challenge at the time.
The Royal London Hospital, where Archie has been treated since April, is run by the Barts NHS Health Trust, which stated that no changes to his care would be made until legal issues were resolved.
Doctors say he is “highly likely” brain-stem dead with no chance of recovery and that terminating life support is in his best interests. Continuing treatment, according to a High Court judge, is “futile.”
Speaking to reporters outside the Royal London Hospital, where Archie is being treated, his mother Hollie Dance asked why his treatment couldn’t be done elsewhere if it couldn’t be done in the UK.
“There are other countries that want to take Archie and treat him,” she explained.
“Other countries are very supportive and want him to be treated.” They have a high success rate, and I don’t see the harm. If they can offer even a glimmer of hope…” she added.
“Why is it so black and white? He has to die in this country because this country will no longer treat him? Other countries want to treat him, and I believe he should be allowed to go.”
When asked about her overseas options, she said, “Tokyo [in Japan]… Italy.”
Archie’s family has previously stated that if life support is to be discontinued, he should be transferred to a hospice.
Ms Dance stated that she would prefer for him to be in a more peaceful environment, implying that he could be surrounded by “squirrels and wildlife running around,” but added that this would only be in the “worst case scenario.”
Because of Archie’s complicated condition, doctors previously stated that moving him was not an option.
She also stated that relations between the family and the hospital had “completely broken down,” but she praised the nurses who cared for her son.
The European Court of Human Rights has stated that it will not interfere with UK courts’ decisions to allow the withdrawal of Archie Battersbee’s life-sustaining treatment
