Watford named in fatal Queensbury Shooting

Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of a man on Tuesday, 1 May in Queensbury have named the victim.

He has been named as Leon Maxwell, 38 from Watford.

Officers were initially called to Cumberland Road, HA8 near to Queensbury tube station at 9pm on that day following reports of a shooting.

Armed police and London Ambulance Service (LAS) attended and found Leon suffering from a critical gun shot injury. He died at the scene at just before 10pm.

Formal identification has now been completed, and a post-mortem examination found the cause of death was a gunshot wound.

A 26-year-old man also attended a north London hospital on the same night at 9.10pm, with a gun shot injury. He remains in hospital in a stable condition. Enquiries continue to establish any links between the two men.

Crime scenes were put in place in Cumberland Road, HA8 and in Essoldo Way, HA8 where the attacks are believed to have taken place.

Forensic analysis including ballistic examination was conducted, and CCTV footage in the area has been obtained for review.

The murder investigation is being led by Detective Chief Inspector Nicola Wall of the Homicide and Major Crime Command.

No arrests have been made, and enquiries continue.
