In January 2022, PC Grace and a colleague were dispatched to a traffic collision near Bobbing in the county.
When they arrived on the scene, it was complete chaos. Due to the horrific nature of what had occurred, people were running around the scene screaming.
Following a collision, the officers noticed a motorcyclist had become trapped beneath a flat bed lorry. The rider had obvious injuries and was screaming in pain.
The officers immediately took command.
The flat bed section of the lorry was actually resting on the motorcyclist, and the officers knew he needed to be freed immediately if he was to survive.
The officers were able to secure a jack to lift the lorry, and with the assistance of several members of the public, they were able to lift the lorry off the ground.
PC Grace crawled underneath the lorry to drag the motorcyclist to safety, despite the fact that the lorry could have crashed at any time.
He then removed the rider's helmet and began CPR until ambulance crews arrived.
Despite his injuries, the motorcyclist survived the accident.
PC Grace's life-saving actions, according to Kent Police Federation Chair Neil Mennie, make him a deserving nominee for a bravery award.
"PC Grace displayed exceptional courage to reach the motorcyclist and free him from the lorry in what was a horrific incident," he said.
"I'm sure the rider would have died if he hadn't done what he did."
"We are all extremely proud of PC Grace; he is an exceptional officer who is a credit to himself, his family, and Kent Police."
The National Police Bravery Awards recognise officers from across England and Wales who have displayed extraordinary bravery while on or off duty.
As a nominee, PC Grace – who has requested that his first name not be used – will join colleagues from across the country at a reception and an evening awards ceremony in London in July.
