The A30 in Devon is closed eastbound between M5 J29 and the B3174/B3180 (Ottery St. Mary) due to a serious single vehicle collision. Devon and Cornwall Police are on scene dealing with the incident where a van has overturned, Ambulance crews and Traffic Officers are also in attendance. Two persons have been trapped in the vechilce The road is expected to remain closed for several hours so please plan ahead if travelling to Exeter Airport.
Police are warning drivers to expect delays after the major route was shut after 7am.
Police and firefighters are both at the scene. Firefighters were called at 7.03am.
A fire service spokesman said: "Fire appliances from Middlemoor, Honiton, Ottery St Mary and the heavy rescue vehicle from Middlemoor attended a multiple vehicle RTC on the A30 this morning. Police and Ambulance also attended.
"This incident is ongoing."
Devon and Cornwall Police are on scene completing collision investigation work following an overturned van this morning, following this barrier repairs will be required and assessments made to a nearby bridge.
M5 traffic should continue to J30 and exit to the roundabout, at the roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A376 eastbound. At the next roundabout with the A386/A3052 take the 2nd exit to join the A3052 east bound, continue to the A3180 junction and turn left. Travel north on the B3180 via West Hill and re-join the A30.
