A Child has been airlifted to hospital by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance this afternoon following a high-speed collision just off Calshot Spit in the Solent.

The incident happened just after 2pm (Sunday). A joint operation involving the Air ambulance, Coastguard rescue teams from Southampton, South Central ambulance and two Lifeboats crews from Gosport and Calshot.
The lifeboat from Gosport who was out on the water went to assist in the rescue two children and two adults who were on jet ski that collided on the water. The Gosport independent lifeboat brought the rescue people back to the lifeboat station at Calshot. One of the children was treated by paramedics before they were airlifted by the helicopter to Southampton general hospital. The injuries to one of the Children who is aged 12 is believed to be a serious leg injury. Two other people have been treated at the scene by paramedics.

A 999 call came in at to the operations centre at 2.15pm and the Gosport & Fareham independent lifeboat, along with Calshot inshore lifeboat and Southampton Coastguard Rescue Team were sent to help.
It’s believed there were two adults and two children on board the jetskis.
Hampshire police, Helimed and South Central Ambulance have also been at the scene”
A spokesman for RNLI Calshot said: ‘Calshot Lifeboat’s D Class was launched this afternoon to reports of two jet skis that had collided off of Calshot Spit.
‘On arrival all persons had been recovered to shore, however, a 12 year old child had sustained injuries.
‘Casualty Care qualified crew members assessed injuries from a suspected impact and were joined by Gosport Lifeboat and other Calshot crew members ashore.
‘Further support was given by NHS paramedics, the hazard area response team and the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
‘The casualty was transferred by the helicopter to hospital.
