A man has been rescued after getting stuck in the mud near Chewton in Dorset this afternoon(Monday 15 February)
The coastguard was alerted by the man’s family that he was struggling and unable to free himself.
Coastguard rescue teams, Lymington, Southbourne and Poole, along with Dorset Fire and Rescue and the South West Ambulance Service were sent to help. They used specialist equipment to free the man, which injects air and water around them. He was shaken and exhausted but unharmed.
Working as one team, all the emergency services worked together to rescued the man and make sure he was okay once he was released from the grip of the mud.
A Spokesman from the UK Coastguard said” Getting stuck in mud can be a terrifying experience. The teams did a great job of extracting the man and although he was cold and wet he was uninjured after being checked over by the ambulance service the man left with his family”.
“We would advise members of the public to take great care around mud and not to take risks near it. If you do become stuck in mud at the coast, spread your weight as much as possible, try not to struggle and call 999 immediately.
