Controlled Explosion carried out at Bluewater Shopping Centre

A controlled explosion has believed to have been carried out on an unattended package at Bluewater.

Hundreds of shoppers were caught up in drama after the package led to part of the centre being evacuated.
Shoppers still in the centre said they heard a bang just before 9pm and they had been told it was a controlled explosion.

A Bluewater spokesman said: “Following reports of an unattended package, we have cordoned off an area while police investigate. We are liaising with Kent Police.”””
Witnesses at the centre have said the area evacuated runs approximately from Marks and Spencer to the food hall.

It is the second time in two days parts of the centre has been evacuated due to  emergencies
Yesterday, a fire started in the Village section of the Greenhithe mall – between John Lewis and House of Fraser.
