thieves make off empty hand from cashpoint raid

Police are appealing for witnesses after a fire was set deliberately to a cash machine at Sainsbury’s Local in Camberley in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday 3 July) causing extensive damage.

The incident, which took place in Heather Ridge Arcade, was caught on CCTV at around 3am. A dark coloured car believed to be similar to a BMW 5 Series or Audi A6 is seen arriving in the car park, three men who were wearing dark coloured hoodies, hats and face coverings are then seen to exit the vehicle and walk up and down the parade of shops for around 5 minutes. The men are seen returning to the car to collect items before attempting to use a substance, to cause an explosion inside the cash machine. No entry was made into the machine and no cash was taken.

It is believed that this may be linked to a similar incident which occurred in Yateley and we are working with our colleagues in Hampshire as our enquiries remain ongoing. Anyone with any information should contact officers by calling 101 or report online quoting reference number PR/45190069181.
